You do not need a Power BI license to participate in this workshop.

If you’d like to follow along hands-on during the demonstrations, you can download the free Power BI Desktop application and the anonymized Excel dataset used in the session. If you’re unable to download either, you can still fully participate by watching the live walkthroughs.

Power BI Desktop (Free)

Power BI Desktop is Microsoft’s free desktop application used to build and explore Power BI dashboards.

  • No Power BI license required
  • Used for the live workshop demonstrations

We’ll be using an anonymized Excel dataset during the workshop to demonstrate:

  • Category performance
  • SKU-level analysis
  • Inventory and availability views
  • Competitive and retailer comparisons

This practical Power BI workshop shows category managers how to connect insight to make powerful, data-driven decisions at speed. The session includes a simple setup walkthrough of a Power BI instance and live demonstrations of dashboards for category performance, SKU analysis, retailer comparisons, and competitive visibility.

Designed for category managers and space planners with low to moderate Power BI experience who want to unlock the value of their data and gain a strategic advantage.
